Serve the City
Serve the city is a ministry initiative that was started in Brussels Belgium by the church plant called The Well. Its purpose was to show the city God’s love in practical ways by meeting the needs of people through serving them. It is backed by the teachings of Jesus who said that he came not to be served but to serve. The Well partners with the local agencies who are already meeting needs. You will see people during the 10 days of Serve the City cutting homeless people’s hair, serving food to refuges, painting or remodeling orphanages, fixing up public parks or even handing out flowers to people on the subway. One of the neat things about Serve the City is that it encourages all the local churches to come together and serve as a team. The goal of Serve the City is that it would not stay in Brussels, but that it would spread to the world. This year in 2007 15 cities alone hosted Serve the City. “We serve the city so we can demonstrate the Kingdom of God. In a moment of kindness or compassion, we announce something of the love of God and the reality he invites us into. We serve the city so the church in Europe can work together and be known for something other than its buildings or meetings. Oh and also because there are needs all around us and Jesus told us to.” -Carlton Deal

We are a family headed to do church planting work in Europe, namely Brussels Belgium. We (David and Joanna) were married on May 20th, 2000. Eleri was the first to join the family on Oct. 16, 2004 with Adley Cait announcing herself on May 2, 2006. On September 30th, 2009 we welcomed our little boy Clive into this world!
Really nice site you have here. I’ve been reading for a while but this post made me want to say 2 thumbs up. Keep up the great work
